Monday Night: Club Trophy and Robinson Axion Insurance.

Monday night curling for many years was always ladies seniority position curling. This year, the Monday night curling is neither seniority position, nor selective curling, but a mish-mash. It’s something different that’s for sure. Six rinks are competing in a seven game schedule. Sponsors for this first round are the Curling Club and Robinson Axion Insurance thanks to the generosity of Dale Robinson.

First game results show the Joan Maurice, Phyllis Harris, Kathy Freeman and Joyce Baskey rink sliding along the scoreboard in a big win over the Linda Lindsay rink.

In the Greta Taylor versus Nanci Beers game, after three ends it’s 4-0 for Greta. Then in the end number four, Nanci is sitting five, with last rock to draw in for six, but was heavy.

However, Nanci is back in the game now and even went on to take the win along with Sue Shadd, Donna Kalyn and Barb Stkinson.

Liz Sims, Anne Harris and Julie Truscott didn’t get any big ends, but always kept ahead for the win over the Marian McIsaac rink.

Wednesday night: Logan’s of Parry Sound and Huff Stevenson Financial.

Most of the rinks have now played three games, with the Tracey Sitts, Joanne Gille, Julie Truscott and Kaila Stevenson rink leading in the standings, with two wins and one tie game. In Tracey’s third game, she was in full control for their big win over the Trudy Orr rink.

The Liz Sims, Bev Webb, Robin Galbraith and Gladys Poutney rink marked up a second win when they quickly claimed a lead of 7-2 after four ends in their game with the Lorna Morgan rink.

When you start the game with a five-ender, the adrenaline is up, you add another one, then another one. This was the picture for the Marian McIsaac versus Nanci Beers game. It was 7-3 for Marian after five ends. Nanci is sitting four in end six, but Marian with last rock, made a great draw to the four-foot. Sharing the win were Greta Taylor, Carol Mymko and Jan Crich, making this the second win.

It was the second game for the Martha Gibson, Kathy Parton, Debbie Jackson and Randi Krist rink as they took the big win from the Amy Betts rink.

Taking the lead, then keeping their opponents down to single points, the win went to Missy Ferguson, Toni Walker, Amy Quinn and Barb March.

The Sandra Villeneuve rink was three up over the Joan Maurice rink after six ends, then in the seventh, Joan counted four to sit one up, but because of slow play, he eighth end didn’t get played, giving the win to Joan, Sue Heitman, Cindy Jacklin and Deb Marner.

They were only a three-man rink, but in the Sue Smith, Harriett Taylor and Phyllis Harris game, it was quite the reversal of their game last week. This week, they took a big lead and didn’t lose it, in fact, they almost went off the score board in their game with the Brandi Whittaker rink.

The Joyce Baskey rink took the first three ends 4-0. Then it’s 8-4 for the Trudy Johnson rink after seven. In the eighth end, Joyce missed an opportunity to sit four, with the win going to Trudy, Deanna Jackson, Laura Micheals and Marilyn Hall.
